WOMEN'S HEALTH ULTRASOUND
Women's health ultrasound examinations provide detailed assessment of the female pelvic organs and surrounding structures.
These examinations may assist healthcare providers in evaluating symptoms such as pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, ovarian cysts, fibroids and other gynaecological concerns. Examinations are performed in a calm and respectful environment with careful attention to your comfort.
Pelvic Ultrasound
Pelvic ultrasound assesses the uterus, ovaries and surrounding pelvic structures. The examination may be performed transabdominally and, where clinically appropriate, may be complemented by transvaginal imaging for improved visualisation.
May assist in evaluating:
- Pelvic pain
- Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Ovarian cysts
- Fibroids
- Pelvic masses
- Endometrial assessment where indicated
Preparation may include a full bladder depending on the examination requested.
Transvaginal Ultrasound
Transvaginal ultrasound provides more detailed internal pelvic imaging using a specialised ultrasound probe.
This examination may assist in evaluating pelvic anatomy and selected gynaecological concerns with greater detail.
The examination is performed privately and respectfully, with patient comfort prioritised throughout the procedure.
No special preparation is usually required unless advised otherwise.
GENERAL MEDICAL ULTRASOUND
Diagnostic abdominal and renal ultrasound examinations may assist healthcare providers in assessing abdominal organs and urinary tract structures where clinically indicated. AMU aims to provide careful imaging supported by clear reporting for the referring healthcare provider.
Abdominal Ultrasound
Abdominal ultrasound evaluates abdominal organs including:
- Liver
- Gallbladder
- Kidneys
- Pancreas
- Spleen
- Prostate (where clinically indicated)
This examination may assist in assessing abdominal pain, bloating, gallstones, urinary concerns and other abdominal symptoms where clinically indicated.
Preparation for abdominal ultrasound may require fasting prior to the appointment.
Renal & Urinary Tract Ultrasound
Focused assessment of the kidneys, bladder, urinary tract and prostate where clinically indicated.
This examination may assist in evaluating:
- Kidney pain
- Urinary tract concerns
- Hydronephrosis
- Kidney stones
- Bladder assessment
- Prostate enlargement assessment where indicated
